Earlier this month, several news outlets reported a devastating dog hoarding situation in Howell, New Jersey, in which nearly 300 dogs were rescued from a home in deplorable conditions. Several shelters throughout New Jersey opened their doors to help these animals by providing immediate veterinary care, vaccinations, and more. Just minutes from Zoetis’ headquarters in Florham Park, N.J., continues to play a significant role in this rescue effort after taking in more that 140 of these dogs.
欧洲杯投注Promptly after this story unfolded, Zoetis reached out to area shelters to see how the company could help. In response to their feedback, Zoetis donated a range of products, including flea and tick preventatives and vaccines for conditions such as distemper virus, oral bordatella virus and rabies, to name a few. Colleagues throughout the Zoetis headquarters office also helped coordinate donations on items from the Amazon wish list - such as paper towels, wash cloths, nail trimmers, enrichment toys, leashes and harnesses. Today, Zoetis colleagues continue to collect dog toys and supplies for donation to area shelters.
"As a company living our Core Beliefs, our hearts go out when we see such situations," said Steve Leder, senior vice president, Companion Animal and U.S. Distribution at Zoetis. "Our first and foremost concern is with the animals, and that was shown by the compassion of our colleagues and our ability to respond so quickly.”
Helping pets find forever homes
Unfortunately, more than 7 million cats and dogs enter animal shelters every year in the United States. Some shelters operate on tight municipal budgets; others are non-profit and volunteer organizations. That’s where Zoetis saw an opportunity to help—and founded in the United States.
This program provides exceptional discounts on many of the Zoetis products that shelters use most. The average shelter saves $4,592 a year, and as of February 2016, the Zoetis for Shelters program has saved animal shelters more than $20 million. This money saved can be put towards helping more pets find forever homes.
欧洲杯投注Zoetis for Shelters has made its mission to find solutions to shelters’ toughest health challenges. In 2015, member shelters helped 1.8 million pets find forever homes. These are the happy endings to the difficult stories of shelter animals.
